Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jake went to undergraduate school at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating, Jake commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps where he deployed in 2011 to Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2014, Jake left active duty to go to law school at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina. After interning at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Jake decided to call Knoxville home. He began working at the Knox County District Attorney’s Office in January 2018, starting in the DUI unit before moving to the Felony Drug Unit, and finally to the Domestic Violence Unit where he tried everything from Aggravated Assault to Aggravated Kidnapping. Jake joined Baker Foster Potter, P.C. in October, 2022 specializing in criminal defense matters. Jake is currently a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
